Day 6: Part 2/2

WFP, the World Food Programme, in a nutshell is "food 911" and primarily provides emergency food assistance in areas of need or conflict. It is incredibly complicated and works to alleviate food insecurity worldwide. The most overwhelming thing when it comes to WFP's mission is probably the reliance on other countries' compliance. Conflict and peace play a large part in what WFP is able to successfully achieve. It must have the approval of the country before entering, and that can prove difficult to providing food assistance to areas that really need it. This would be my "big problem" to fix to help end food insecurity. Prior to this trip I didn't understand the dramatic impact conflict has on food and food insecurity. Several of my other blog posts detail this, but peace is crucial to food security. Alleviating world conflict can bring about food security.
